Most local orchids that I have found were in what I considered expected habitats. This little Green Adder's Tongue was an exception to my expectation. Surprisingly, there it was in a mixed patch of saplings growing on dry, sandy soil. What's more, the saplings were situated so close together that access for photography was inhibitive. With a bit of luck I was able to add a picture of this species to Pittsylvania County's list of native orchids.
