Since the main purpose in my articles is to render a satisfactory picture of various nature specimens, this Sweet Pitcher-plant was somewhat of a disappointment. The savannah grasses tended to hide the specimen so as to accomplish an amazing camouflage; my camera didn't seem to separate the floral parts from the environmental site. For this reason, I have selected out the flower and leaves from the larger picture in hopes of making the thin, tall leaves more visible.
This color slide was taken on May 8th, 1973 within the Green Swamp area of Brunswick County, North Carolina.
