The White Baneberry or Doll's Eyes is a species that seems to be a rare plant in Pittsylvania County. During my forty years or so in plant study I have found only one of these plants growing in a wooded area just a bit north of Elkhorn Lake near Java. Since I only photographed the flowering phase of the plant, a fruiting branch of the species “doll's eyes” was herewith printed from a courtesy photo on the internet. Needless to say, the seeds of this flower bring to my mind an old doll with opening/shut eyes that intently stared you down; as names go, this plant well deserves its nickname.
